Why won't 2000w inverter run 900w microwave?

Not an expert at this ..but this is what I have MV/convection ..900 watts output
2500 watt invertor MSW ..(6) 6v AGM batt's ..inverter sits 2ft away and the wire is as big as my thumb..and my MV did not like when I tried it the one time (sounded funny)..It must pull a ton of power..So using this source of power for MV just not worth it. I'll also suggest an alternate way to heat food up. My husband just starts the genny for the few times I need it.
