I'd rather use sunshine than propane to heat stuff, so we use the MSW 2000w inverter (with four batts) and use the MW, toaster, kettle all we want, then recharge the batts with sunshine. The gen is just for when there is no sunshine for a few days.
No need to go without. We are not in the army, sitting in a mud puddle trying to heat up a tin of beans. RVing is supposed to be more like being in the navy :)
