The reason you have to put in a password is because someone is having to pay for the wifi service, and the amount of data used. And doesn't want just give that away to just everybody. Contrary to what many think, wifi service is not free, and is NOT a constitutional right. Communication services are expensive, and are paid for by those using them. If you want to play, you gotta pay. You can drive by my house, and see the WIFI, but you can't use my time or data unless I want to let you.
