That's the only way I would ever trust obtaining a proper charge when using a generator. "Set it and forget it", doesn't seem to work too cool when charging via petroleum and pistons. Ya know, wilderness camping....generator charging..?

So you have solutions now with solar panels and charge controllers instead for your battery packs?

Sorta like pushing a button on the steering wheel, getting up and going back and joining the gang on the sofa. Trojan? The last Trojan I saw was last season on a sailboat.

So they try to find a compromise and the generator/charger minority lose out somewhat to the shore power majority who want ( or have been taught to want) "gentle" and not "fast"

My adjustable voltage unit comes closest to ideal except it is all manual for choosing the voltage for any situation (which takes care of temperature compensation too if you allow for that when choosing the voltage)

Meanwhile an off grid RVer can use three chargers instead of just the one converter. A fast charger for off-grid, a standard converter for when on shore power, and a battery tender type for storage/float.
