I've been sitting here on solar only for 1 1/2 mos, and as I'm watching the PD pendant lite blink, it looks to me like the PD does a lot more on "time" than it does automatically. It perdy much goes thru the different stages, except I've never seen it go into float mode. So apparently it needs to see higher voltage than the 14.3 max I have ever seen on solar here, before it goes into 13.2 float mode.
But whatever a PD does, I'm convinced its doing it right,....or at least good enuff.
