The device in the photo has a couple of names... In my field we call it a Bias-T, but Winegard called it a Power Inserter.
It contains basically two or 3 or 4 devices
One coil of wire, called a choke, connecting the POSITIVE lead to the ANT center connection... A Capicator connecting that last point to the TV center connection, and optionally a second coil on the negative side and optionally a diode to protect against reverse polarity, the Diode I would use if I were building it the 2nd coil I might if I had ground loop issues.
It is rare but it is legit, it replaces the wall plate but
1: Does not select between cable and antenna and
2: Works with a remote switch... I have seen exactly one trailer with this device, have never actually seen the device, Thanks for the photo.
