Winterizing

Eventually it will be time to put the trailer away for the winter. This will be my first winter that I have previously had water through the systems.

So, how do I winterize it? Is it worth the $150 the shop charges?

  • Yep, avoid the pink stuff in the drinking lines and just blow it all out. You can put some of the pink stuff in the drains and p-traps but you can blow and drain everything else.
  • 10.00 dollars and 35 pounds of air pressure and you are done.
  • Winterize??? Bite your tongue, I'm not ready for that!

Winterizing is really easy, and the link above shows good directions. If you have a manual it may show you where the bypass valves, low point valves, etc are located. It might also give you some instructions specific to your rig.

Me water heater, water tank, bypass valves and winterizing kit (valves off tube fur sucking in rv antifreeze) is located under a dinette seat. The mtg. provided a tiny access door that, if used, would make life difficult. The dealer suggested just leaving the screws off for the dinette seat, which I did and it gives me complete and easy access to everything.

The link above says blow the lines or use the pink stuff. I do both....its cheap and provides extra assurance I'll have no problems.

    Good luck!
  • $150?? Oh now I know, you are in canada. prices are higher up there. we only charged $49 per unit. You may need to have them do it one time and look over their shoulder to see what or how they do it, then you will have a clearer idea how to do it yourself
