Winterizing

This is the first RV we have owned with a built-in water filter. All the rest have been external.
I installed a by-pass for antifreeze when I noticed and thought about the filter.
Should I remove the filter and flood the system with antifreeze as I have done in the past. Or should I install an air fitting and blow the lines clear.
It is seldom that we get below freezing weather but it does happen, much to the shock and dismay of the entire city.

  • My last fiver had a spacer hose to install in place of the filter for winterizing. It worked very well.

  • take the filter out and throw it away. you will need a new one next year anyway. just save the filter numbers or go to town and buy one now so you will have the correct one next year.
  • yes my manufactur's instructions say to take the filers out and empty the water if necessary and let the pink stuff do its work
