Wiring issues in the MH.

I'm having some issues with the rear lights, turn signal lights, and even the cruise control. When I activate the turn signal to change lanes, the cruise kicks out.
These related things just suddenly happened while on our last journey home.
The problem is probably a grounding issue or maybe a bare wire short but where to look :h

The question is: will an OBDII be of any help?
  • Jim,

It would help is we had some idea what the vehicle chassis is without digging trough your profile.

Am OBDII reader will probably not tell you anything of interest. OBDII is pretty much strictly an engine related system.

Many cruise systems use the brake light signal to release. When the line goes high (brake lights on) the system disengages. If the ground to the lights is bad, then that signal may look high. So, go look for the bad ground at the rear.

I can't even begin to tell you where to look.

  • All lights went out on our trip south in November. Stopped at a rest area. Found that a collection of ground wires near trailer hitch were hanging down from frame. Bolt had broken off. Put a new bolt in place to correct light problem.
Not sure if this would also affect cruise control.
