Some greases are not compatible with each other depending on their bases. I used some redline CV-2 on some XRF ball joints, and the grease degelled and started dripping from the zerks. I had to pump in more grease often until they stopped dripping.
It is also said that greases with high Moly content are not good for roller bearings as the roller can slide instead of roll. as Moly can plate the surfaces with payers that can slide like a fresh deck of cards.
I'd try and find out which grease is in them presently and use somethig with a conmpatible base.
Also I did the masking tape grease descriptor thing on my greasegun. The sharpie bled and I'd found the tape had fallen off. I did degrease the area before applying the tape.
I;d recommend marking the grease type with a separate tag on a rubber band.
NO earthly idea what's in it now. 10 Years old and I've never repacked or even added grease (never thought about it until now). Recently found I have bearing buddy type hubs. Fortunate I haven't had any problems but it hasn't been driven over 60 miles one way in probably 7 years and probably has only 8,000 miles overall in it's 10 year life.
