So results, or lack thereof, on the recent dry camp.
Arrived with the voltage readout at 12.9 having been hooked up to a shoreline for two days. Friday watched the end of the UT-Duke basketball game and about 2 1/2 hours of the UT-Texas Tech game when the alarm went off informing me that the voltage was about to go below where it would be inverted. Display showed 11.5. Considering that we had been told we could go for three or four days that was a surprise.
I hooked the truck power back up, finished watching the game, turned everything off and let the truck run for a while. Eventually got up to 11.8 when I unhooked the truck. After that with just a couple of lights running the low voltage alarm would go off after about an hour. Eventually I just shut off the unit to stop the **** alarm. In the early morning it read 11.3. By 11:30 it was at 11.6.
Brought it home and with nothing turned on for a day and a half in bright sun it's up to 11.7. It seems to top out at 11.8 at best. I've been turning it off. Just turning it on to see what the voltage reading is.
I consulted the manual. It's a bit tricky because some of the displays aren't really intuitive as to what they're reading and the manual makes you go back and forth between two pages apart to see what is what. And even then I don't know what some of them mean or where their supposed to be for these batteries, etc.
It seems like the solar panel isn't really providing all that much charge and/or the settings are not correct. I happened to be there when they installed the thing and the tech was consulting the manual I got the vibe he wasn't quite sure either.
I'm going to have another go at seeing if I can figure out where the settings should be. If that doesn't provide an answer I think I need to have someone check how much current the solar panel is producing. I spent a LOT of money for this system and it's really pissing me off that it's never worked right. Especially now as we're finally getting to the stage where we can get out more and boondock the way we planed when we started all this.
