Though the invoice does say Xantrex Xi it is in fact the Freedom HFS. It is labeled in big letters right on top of the unit. Both the installation manual and the owners manual I was given, and which the tech was using for reference in my presence, also say Freedom HFS. The remote panel displays and functions work exactly as described in the manual. Whether or not the remote was incorrectly named on the invoice I couldn't tell you. Haven't looked for a model number on the remote panel. Don't have an explanation for the discrepancy. Maybe they been smoking the wrong stuff.
In any event, where I'm at this moment is that two people on this forum who seem knowledgeable and the mobile tech I spoke with on the phone all say to disconnect the OEM converter. I have posted a link to photos of the unit and the wiring. I just need to know which wire to disconnect to at least try that as a solution.
