Reluctantly I will say yes the converter needs to be re-connected. However the inverter needs to be turned off. This is a patch to get your batteries charged up. And they desperately need a charge.
Multiple charging sources are generally not an issue and certainly not in your case. Your issue is the inverter was pulling from the battery and powering the converter to put power back in the battery. This is due to incorrect wiring during inverter install. This is why the inverter must remain off if using the converter. Likewise the converter needs to be disabled if you want to use the inverter.
I honestly think the solar has become disconnected. Maybe a fuse. At the start you had over-voltage issues that have gone away. Over-voltage possibly indicates no solar controller.
