Yes exactly. When connected correctly everything will work with no cross connection issues. When you plug in the battery should charge. When off-grid you turn on the inverter and you can relax and watch a movie. For the user it should be basic and simple.
Solar is just a second power source to the 12 volt system. No effect to or from the converter itself. Converter is just a 12v source. Same as the inverter when in charging mode, just another 12v source. Alternator does the same when rolling down the road to supply 12 volt power. Multiple sources is not an issue.
