I just bought a SW600 a few months ago to replace an old noisy MSW inverter, and it is silent. The only way I can tell mine is on is from the LED display. If yours was noisy, I suspect it was defective.
I ordered mine from iSurvivalgear.com who had the best price at the time and free shipping. I can't recommend dealing with them though. I had to pester them several times and finally threaten to cancel the order before they shipped it. I'm happy with the inverter though.

Sorry, this was a senior moment. I thought Mena was posting about the Samlex SSW series. I would assume the Xantrex 600W inverter is dead silent like my 1000W model.
