Xantrex Prowatt Transfer Switch UPDATE

I have on order a Xantrex Prowatt Transfer Switch, will be here Tuesday. Can anyone tell me how the coil is energized is it from the Inverter power or Line Power? When energized does the coil stayed powered or is it a latching system? IF the coil is energized can it stay under power for long periods. Dose it switch over quickly so a digital cock will not have to be reset every time power is switched between the inverter or line power? Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks Gary

I got the Transfer switch. with no power the inverter feed through the transfer switch. It is double pole double throw. And it does change fast enough that the digital clock doesn't have to be reset. New PSW inverter and transfer switch is installed and I am happy with it so far.
Thanks for all the gave some input to my post.

  • smkettner I see from the information I got off the internet it shows Ac Input 1 & AC Input 2. Some of my concern was having the inverter to power the coil. I was not sure which side is powering the coil. Guess I will have to ring it out when it get here.

Mandalay Parr thanks I was wondering if I would have to keep resetting the the clock.

Thanks to both of you for the information you gave me. Gary
  • I would connect the inverter to the normally closed contact. This prevents the inverter from using power to keep the switch closed. Utility power to the normally open.
  • Mine switches so fast no clock reset. Coil is probably continuous duty and probably powered off battery power.
