Yes the Cooling Unit cools Freezer First, so a failing one could give decent freezer and poor fridge. But check everything noted above before condemning the cooling unit or the entire fridge.
To add to the list, be sure the Door Gaskets are GOOD and in FULL contact with the frame of the fridge. On our Norcold, the doors aren't stiff enough to do that on their own. They stay tight by the latches, but we have to push the corners.
The RV-type fridge never cools "powerfully" like the compressor-driven ones. It'll work satisfactorily only when everything is right.
