I once bought a great fresh water hose - flexible, easy to roll, solid, and used it for years until finally transitioned it to a tank cleaning hose.Have bought four since, and they all kink, flatten, hard to roll, and stiff even in warm weather, leak, cheap fittings.Half the reviews give one or another five stars, and the other half of complain about these same issues - kinking, hard to roll, cheap fittings, leak, etc. Hard to know which to believe.Don't remember the brand for the first one (ten or twelve years ago) but want to find one that will work like a hose should. Any good brands out there? I don't care about "saving a buck", as most say "bargain", or something like that. We don't want a "good price" we went a "good hose"...Found:: SmartFlex Marine Hose (Legacy?) and Teknor Aqua-flex Marine hose ... some good reviews but still a lot of not so good reviews for the same reasons as above. I always have a tendency to think some five star reviews come from "just bought it" and it hasn't had time to really evaluate it yet, versus bad reviews that illustrate what happens over six months or a year using it. Maybe?? Confusing?? Any advice here?

I don't know if this will help or not, but I've been using a garden hose reel and keep 100 feet of hose on it. Actually, I have 2 of them for a total of 200 feet of hose. I've had the same hose on them for some time now. This way, they do not kink and are easy to roll up. Mine is identical to this one: click here and yes, I bought them from Wall Mart a few years ago. Yes, they take up a little space, but that's why I added the cage carrier to my trailer bumper (I have factory hitch on the back of my camper) where I carry the hoses and a plastic box for the sewer hoses. This is something to think about you might consider. Regardless of how old or how stiff the hose gets, it rolls up nice and never kinks.EDIT:I picked this specific hose reel because the handle folds down, and the handle on the crank folds in also, creating a smaller space it takes up. Flipping the handle flat let me put it in my carrier cage very easy and doesn't get caught on everything. Small, compact, and does the job very well.EDIT EDIT:In order to drain the hose dry, all you have to do is roll it back up. If there is still water in the hose (which there usually is), is to simply unhook it from the water spigot, and start turning the drum in the same direction the hose is reeled on. Turn slowly and the water will start spewing out the end of the open hose. Remember, gravity pulls the water down hill. So every rotation is pulling water closer and closer to the end. Finally, there is nothing left, hose is empty. Connect both ends together and it keeps the insides clean and bug free. I've been doing this for years now.

I had to replace my 1/2" x 25' ApexNever Kink RV hose last year. Not because it burst, but it was 10 years old and would kink while rolling up. The Apex NeverKink is guaranteed for life not to kink. I contacted Apex and they gave me instructions on how to get a new, free replacement.

I'm thinking of giving the Zero-G hose a try. Standard hoses, of which I carry many, take up a lot of room.

There is a new hose being advertised, DO NOT KNOW if it is rated for potable water.. Stainless steel armored... I'd love to try one out.Not exactly a recommendation.. Just a "Suggestion you check it out".. Might be good.. Light weight, supposed to be good in low temps, Resistant to everything.

I have a short hose (25' or so) I bought at Walmart. I use it to fill my water tank. I never leave my rig connected to water with the water on (I use the on board system so I don't need to worry about a leak or something bad happening when I'm not there). I have had that hose for at least 6 or 7 years (long enough to get my moneys worth out of it).I also have a roll flat hose on a wind up reel that's about 50' long and takes up hardly no space. The last one I bought at Sears, cost about $25, it has lasted at least 10 years that I can remember. But I only use it when I need additional length.I guess because my hoses aren't under pressure 24/7 they must last a long time.

Think we're going with the WaterRight - we only use 25', and it seems pretty well made and almost Zero negative reviews.

Here's about the best there is (polyurethane). We use a 50 ft. one at our stick house, but it would also be an excellent RV drinking water hose: https://www.waterrightinc.com/collections/watering-accessories/products/slim-lightweight-polyurethane-garden-hose-25-ft

2) Marketed like a garden hose, but perfectly safe for drinking water
3) Hose and brass or stainless steel fittings should last a lifetime

6) Small diameter for compactness - but plenty large enough water delivery rate for RV use.
7) Small diameter for ultra-light weight handling

If you want to buy it once and have it do it's thing for a lifetime, this is probably it. The one at our stick house is at least 5 years old and is kept wound up outside in the sun ... and it looks brand new.

I saw that one too -- it's now in the mix... altho I was worried about the price (25' for $12) seems really, really inexpensive. But, I was hoping someone with 'real world' experience with a specific hose popped in here.

We only need 25' because we are a Truck Camper and get pretty close to the HU towers ... or we have a back-up 10' hose that we don't like too much, but it's only occasional use - it's very stiff, but, well, ten feet :) Hard to roll up in a small coil to store. Many times we only need 15', but that's pretty short for everyday use.

I've bought more of those SO-CALLED RV water safe hoses then I care to admit. Only because they were short. The fittings are JUNK and leak right out of the box. :R

I don't drink from my holding tank so I finally bought a fairly expensive no kink garden hose. Problem solved.
