Oh, one more thing. On Monday I'm picking up a 35 ft 5er and taking it to Alberta, COMMERCIALLY. I know this from experience. While in TX I will see no open scales. If a DPS weight enforcement trooper sees me, and I am obeying the traffic laws and have my USDOT number and transporter plates on he will more than likely leave me alone. If he does stop me for a road side check he will look at my DL, proof of insurance, log book, med card, and bill of lading and maybe do a safety check for lights and tire tread depth. In CO I'll cross the scales and more than likely get a green light. The only time I've ever had to go inside was when we had single state registration and once because the transporter plate on the bottom trailer of a flat bed stack was not easily seen from his window. In WY I'll have my registration and BOL checked at the port of entry. In MT I'll have to buy a permit, based on miles, for my trip thru to Sweetgrass. After crossing the border I'll go into the scales and probably have the permit checked by the MT LEO who works there. Not one of these guys will look at, or even care about, the data plates on either the pickup or 5er.
