still he never sent us to the magic rulebook that everyone is searching for. All it would take to resolve that concern, is for someone to post what book of laws, which pamphlet, which state articles or federal codes applie, and lists all requirements including weights, to PRIVATE RV's, towed or driven. That's it.
(sigh) There is a federal book for commercial haulers. It's the FMCSA which all states have adopted. But none of those don't matter because they don't apply to this forum no matter how much someone quotes them and thinks they are.
For non-commercial, and RVers, what you're asking for doesn't exist. What you're asking for is a comprehensive book for all the states' traffic and equipment laws. They exist for each state but not all in one book.
However, they are available on line all at the click of your mouse. I have provided that link before. It's call the Library of Congress. Feel free to knock yourself out and read them.
Statutes for every state
and so just deal with the fact that it has become a nation wide nickname for Troopers that deal with weight limits, so get over it already. We'll call them all that if we want. LOL. I do miss his need to get the last word in when someone made his blood boil.
Great discussion. Later
You can call Troops whatever you want. Doesn't make it accurate. It just shows some people's ignorance that they don't know what they're talking about. If a person expects to be taken seriously then a person needs to speak/write like they know what they're talking about and use correct terms. If a person can't use the correct terms for one thing then don't expect to be taken seriously about other topics. That's why this thread has gone on for 16 pages. People are using terms they don't understand, using them incorrectly, and then others who don't know beans from applebutter use the terms incorrectly trying to explain something else they don't understand either.
Being a truck driver for a lifetime sure doesn't mean they know anything about the law. They just know how to drive a truck. They've received no formal training in the law and generally get their "legal knowledge" from some other unknowning in a truck stop and suddenly they think they're experts. But that's OK. It kept me busy for a lot of years and locking a lot of them up for the night.
The difference is LEOs have all kinds of names for truckers and most of those ARE accurate.
