Blown Engine Pulled Kibbles And Bits Inside

VIDEO

https://youtu.be/MtzODNy1JG8

I have pulled the old engine and taken it apart. There are plenty of piston bits spread throughout the oil pan which means meticulous parts cleaning and replacement of many parts. It will take a day of preparation on the new engine to get everything ready to go back together. I'm still waiting on some new parts. I also rejected some parts the auto store was trying to sell me. A replacement idler belt bearing made of plastic! that was a no go. They also had a steel pully bearing but upon examination, it was discovered to have a couple flaws in the bearing so I rejected that part too. I tell you, you have to watch things like a hawk these days to insure you get what you want, what you are paying for!  OK, bedtime, Big day tomorrow, got to hustle and get this engine and running.

Just for kicks, you can also see how to remove a drive shaft center bearing using an acetylene torch and a hammer.

  • ok I am confused now, I thought you were buying a rebuilt motor? never mind, I figured it out haha

Man, that engine rebuild sounds like a serious project! Finding piston bits all over the oil pan is rough, but props to you for being thorough with the cleaning and not settling for junk parts. Smart move saying no to that plastic bearing and the sketchy steel one, gotta make sure you’re getting what you pay for, right?

And that drive shaft bearing removal with a torch and hammer? Wild stuff.
