Decades of tossing in and dragging out of beat up work trucks, never gave it a thought. First time I needed to unload over nice paint I saw a issue.
Bags can sometimes be pretty cheap, take time to shop. I carried about 20 feet of 3/8 in just a cloth bag I picked up to reduce the number of urban tumbleweeds (Ever looked at a bib bag in the wind?) I put in the world. Did not use chain much, but bag lasted a few years, until I found better
