Cool engine. Not sure I’ve even heard of them until now, and I’m a little bit of a gear head.
Your engine take a carp, or just upgrading to something eclectic and unique?
And very clean, it appears.
My current engine is pushing oil out of the breather when I'm driving.
#5 cylinder has an oil control problem. The engine is 56 years old and tired. I don't want to rebuild it because I don't want the truck out of commission for that long.
They only made those 410s for two years and they only came in Mercurys so they are not very common and most people have never heard of them either.
This one came out of a low mileage Mercury that was wrecked back in 1972 and was rebuilt with plans of putting it in a hot rod truck but that never happened.
It was bored 0.030 and the main and rods are standard. New rv cam and the heads were done.
I'll be going to CO to pick it up and once I have it back home I'll open it back up and check things out for myself.
The current owner bought it from his friend before he passed away. Its never been started since it was rebuilt back in 1972.
I feel very fortunate to have found this one, they are few and far between. I would like to have a 428 but they are out of my price range so I'll settle for one in the middle.
