If the drivetrain was upgraded a bit, it would make a nice platform for a large family. With convertible seat/beds in the front, should be able to easily handle 8-10 and convert to a bunk house to sleep 4-6 comfortably with the rest sleeping in the 5th wheel.
With the backend cut off, the dual rear axles should be able to handle the pin weight without a problem.
Only real challenge is having enough grunt from the drivetrain. If you could retrofit one of the pickup diesel engines (and transmission) from the last 10yrs, it should be able to handle it.
Only other issue I could see is can it turn sharp enough to get backed into sites.
