The V8 has a 700 lbs tongue weight so I wasn't worried if we were a little over the 600 lbs since the reciever is integrated into the frame of the truck the same in both.
I hope it will tow the new unit faily similar or better, if not we'll be looking at a new TV in the near future. I plan to weigh everything before leaving on the trip home too so we'll have good numbers to reference.
The Pathfinder has a very low rated front axle. Going over the 600 lbs could overload the front axle. The V8 most likely upgraded the front axle for the heavier engine and heavier hitch weight. So just beware. I see your axle ratings are the same as my previous 2005, so going to the scale is a very good idea in your case.
I traded to a longer wheel base 2008 Sport Trac with the high performance 4.6L 3 valve engine. It had a 740 lbs hitch rating and much higher rated front axle for the travel trailer I intended to buy next.
Glad its working out for you. They obviously did some upgrades over the years to the Pathfinder.
I chose to buy my Jay Flight 19BH for the Sport Trac, and didn't buy the 26BH at the time because it's heavier tongue weight would exceed the Sport Trac's 740 lbs limit. Now that I have the 26BH, wish I would had skipped the Sport trac and went right into a F150.
Good luck with your new trailer.
