Well one feature is that it could make a good pulling TV like my 6.4l F-250, that has limited bed capacity (tongue wt. for a fiver) and make it more usable. Ford says my truck is rated to pull 15,900 lbs, yet only has a weight capacity of 2,730lbs. So let's say I am carrying 300 lbs of passenger and cargo wt.,(super easy to do) that lowers the max trailer's tongue wt. to 2,430 lbs. So If I have a 15klb fiver with 20% tongue wt. (3,000 lbs) it would be overloaded. I like the winch idea too as you could use your truck as an anchor point to get out of a sandy or muddy treeless spot - great if it rains while you are boondocking down a dirt road and it's time to leave.
The only disadvantage I see (other than the added vehicle length) is the added weight of the device itself which must be subtracted from your vehicle's towing capacity. So if it weighs, say 800lbs (I have no idea how much it weighs as the website does not say) that means one must subtract the 800 lbs from your vehicle's tow rating, leaving me close to where I started, as far as how large a fiver I can pull.
Now imagine I want to throw my 2 motorbikes, generator, tools and a couple 5 gallon cans of gas in the bed - under a topper, to keep my goodies out the weather. With this device I could still pull a light weight fiver - plus add additional stopping power too. However I do think pulling a fiver with a smart car may be overreaching a tad. ;)
