To answer your question, given your abilities, and seemingly sufficient time to spend hour after hour working on your truck, the best financial decision would be the cheapest used running engine and a for sale sign.
But alas you’re dumping another new motor in an old truck now already.
PS, trucks like yours sell for way too much money back in the salt belt. That’s where I advertise things like this. Generally get someone who will ship it east and pay more than it’s worth here in Seattle because no rust.
