Wow, hard to believe that the frame was bent from what otherwise looks like minor damage... Hope the at-fault driver's insurance makes you whole. Nothing worse than losing an adequate paid-for vehicle because of someone else's negligence...
I agree. It just shows us where the manufacturer's priorities lie -- certainly not in crush zones or other such features keyed to minimizing collision damage. It's a shame that such minor damage yields a total loss. Well, up goes everyone's insurance premiums because of it.
Occupant safety, that was a 35mph hit, no airbag deployment that is a crumple zone to absorb impact I hit a tiny Subaru and those people were fine. The Frame bent at the shock tower mount. There is a bullnose fwd of that that is replaceable, mostly for when plow trucks mess up. 1. GM says no straightening of that frame, 2. The headlights were 1271 dollar a piece, grill was a 1000, Fenders X2 700.00, Grill 1000, 3 Doors who knows how much, Core support 800 Radiator 1000, hood 800, bumper 1000 and discussion of a complete frame swap 5200 for a frame. All OEM and that is just the start of it. Damages were in Excess of 25,000 dollars, before they really even got into it.
