Truck was totaled, looking at GM 6.6 Gasser

Long story short someone pulled out in front of my 47,000 mile 3500HD 6.0 gasser. It was totaled yesterday. Frame is bent.

So looking for a brand new 10 speed 6.6 GM gasser anyone here have any experience with the 6.6 or the 10 speed.

I am going to miss that truck wasn't the best one on the planet, but it was mine, paid for and exactly what I need to tow between 7000 and 8500lbs.

I will post a picture when I get home.

  • We have 3 HD GM gassers from the business back at the dealer right now for electronics issues. 1-2024 with the 10 speed and they have had it for over a month, they can't seem to figure it out. The other 2 are 2023's. To have one side of the LED front accent/driving light replaced on one of those 2023's that crapped would have been $1500.00 if not under warranty, and now it has ECM or BCM issues.

I would not be concerned with the motor or tranny, that 10 speed Allison is a great transmisson, its proven. It's the rest of the truck you need to be concerned about, especially so for the electronics.

Not too many folks posting recently. The few that have posted about them like them. Better than the 6sp you have.
Being as the 10 sp has a 4.5-1 fist gear vs the 6 @ 4.1-1. Going with a 3.73, ene a 3.42 will have as much or more go power as you current rig. Lower rpm at 60....
I'd probably choose a 3.73, or the 4.1, only because I've put a 1-2" larger diameter tire on the last few I've owned. That 2" tire changes GR from a 4.1 to an effective 3.73. An inch to a 3.95'ish ratio.

Go buy one, don't look back!

They couldn't beat my local guy. I just want to know if anyone has one. I want to know if they like it.

Wow, hard to believe that the frame was bent from what otherwise looks like minor damage... Hope the at-fault driver's insurance makes you whole. Nothing worse than losing an adequate paid-for vehicle because of someone else's negligence...

No license, no insurance, expired registration. Thank goodness for uninsured Motorists and USAA!

Said it was bent at the shock tower mount.
