% discount off MSRP?

We are looking at buying a 2015 Silverado 3500SRW. What kind of discount should we expect or hope for, or will they be marked way up beacuse they are the new kid on the block? Thanks!

Hint: Dealer Invoice and what the dealer really pays for it is no where near the same thing. A dealer depending on his discounts is making some where between 5,000 to 8,000 on a truck costing 55,000 that was sold at "Dealer Invoice". Why else would dealer sell a truck making
zero money and still have to pay the salesman and overhead.

Where do people come up with this nonsense? This and the other guy who says his family owns dealerships. The numbers quoted are ludicrous, unsupportable, and just plain not true.

I operated and owned a number of dealerships for several decades. I sold tens of thousands of both cars and trucks in my career. I am now retired and have no dog in this fight.

But,unequivocally, I can tell you there is not a dealership in the US that averages $5,000-$8,000 gross profit per new truck sold and sells more than one a month. Pure rubbish!

If you're a Costco member, use their buying service. Pre-arranged price which is very, very good. No haggling.

Or accept the offer that a GM Employee sent to you in a private message to purchase the vehicle at the GM Friends price, which is invoice plus destination plus small fee (and I believe the same as Costco price).

x 100000000 ..... no wonder some people have such a hard time buying new vehicles when they read such******as this. Nationally the average number is closer to $2200 pr unit and the average sales commission is
    closer to $225
  • Was also in the car business for a number of year and I always pay between $500-$1000 under invoice plus rebates on any brand.

Call Dave Smith Motors in Kellog, ID. You won't find a better price.
  • I know in the trailer sales business the Dealers have near $20,000 sales margin from the price they buy the unit compared to the MSRP.

I think you're a little low on the 20K number on some of the more expensive 5th wheels and way low on motorhomes.
  • totaly agree with jsr21 about what dealers and salesman make on a deal .
bought 2013 Ram .really gave the salesman hard time about the big bucks he would be making on the deal . he pulled his pay stub and showed it to me . he makes 375.00 a week and if he sells a vehicle ,he gets 200.00 for each vehicle he sells . that week he had no sales , so his pay was just 375.00
