Like I said with two stroke in the fuel it brings the scoring value of the newer fuel down to what Bosch specs are for those old pumps. My next truck will be a gasser for sure.

The VP44 injector pump is an electronically controlled and very failure prone pump.
It’s junk.
The 1998 and earlier 12-valve is the one with the ultra-reliable mechanical injection, that’s the Bosch P-7100, or “P-pump”.
You can retrofit the mechanical P-pump to a ‘98.5-‘02 24-valve truck.
It makes more power, too.
I run an old Dodge Cummins because of the reasons being mentioned here, the fuel system on the later models is ridiculously expensive.
If/when I go to a newer truck it’ll be a gasser.
The diesels don’t math out, the only reason to own one is because all the torque is fun.
