? On dry camping for 2 nights propane use?

Well we are goin to do some dry camping tomorrow for the end of the season last camp before storage. So I have 2 20 gal propane tanks .right now 1 tank is about a quarter filled and the other i under half filled. I have done some dry camping but never payed attention to propane use since they were pretty much full when dry camping.so my question is: it's goin to be in the hi 30's - low 40's at night , will my remaining propane last 2 nights using the furnace set at 68 degrees?we will only have 1 bed opened . The other will stay closed . But I will be using the hot water heater sparingly and the fridge will be running.i kno the battery will make it do to experience with dry camping ..so what does everyone think?
  • It was just a guesstimate.didnt go by weight .i went by feel of a full tank comparison..63 lbs is way far fetched.i could weigh them if I wanted close to exact numbers.but per the lever adjoining the tanks when switched on both tanks it shows half full not sure how (middle position)accurate that is tho.
  • Let's see:
    1 20 gal tank 1/4 full = 5 gal x 4.2 lbs/gal = 21 lbs of propane
    1 20 gal tank 1/2 full = 10 gal x 4.2 lbs/gal = 42 lbs of propane

21 + 42 = 63 lbs of propane. That is way more than my 2 30 lb tanks will hold when full, so I would think you should be fine for more than just a few days.
  • You should have plenty of fuel. Try to run one empty then change over. Use your 1/4 one first and then you will know where to stop the heater;=) I set my furnace at 66 and a heavy sleeping bag, single, 2 persons should be OK. The water heater can be run just a few minutes b=4 you need the water.
Furnace takes more battery than gas.:B
STAY good and have great a time
