04 Ram vibration.

My father has a quad cab 4x4 Dodge diesel SRW 3500. He has owned it since new and used it primarily to tow his 10,000 lb 5th wheel down the highway..... Very easy life. It has about 75000 miles on it and is vibrating at about 60 mph. The shop has changed all the u-joints and is now suspecting either the transfer case or transmission. Anyone have an idea?

  • If the tires check out ok for balance then look at the carrier bearing on the rear driveshaft.
  • Is the vehicle properly aligned and does the rest of the front end, i.e. ball joints and tie rod ends check out ok? That could be one source of the problem or it could be something as simple as wheel balance. Improperly balanced wheels can cause severe vibration especially if a weight falls off.
