Unfortunately that's not the case with these trucks. It is usually a sign of a big problem, like a big spread in oil/coolant temperatures which indicates a failing oil cooler, etc. These trucks can run into huge money for repair bills in short order.
I was lucky that the computer in my 2003 6.0L wasn't nearly as advanced as the newer trucks and didn't cause any CEL's because my oil cooler was failing. I routinely had coolant/oil temperature spreads of way over 15 degrees F and it was happening driving solo near the time I traded the truck off. I understand the newer trucks will have a CEL under this condition.
