1 ton dually or Medium Duty for large 5er?
We're looking at large 5ers and these things are HEAVY. I know a 1 ton dually diesel will get them moving down the road and that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried about getting the rig stopp...

There's nothing like the sheer weight of an MDT to give you a feeling of security on the road. Newer pickups now have substantial HP, but, don't have the ride, brakes, air everything, or weight of a big truck.
I paid a lot more than 40k for my 2008 FL M2, mainly because I didn't want an ugly truck. I drove ugly for 10 years.
