Sorry Rick, saw a class 8 stalled out on one of our milder grades a few years back. so not sure even one of them would work out here! may need one of the class 10 or 12 thingymabobs talked about down under.....I seem to recall something called a "land train" that might be a BIG enough cab to handle a 20K trailer......
Altho personally, I like a rig where the GRAWR of the tow rig is at least half the capacity of the trailer. So for a 20K trailer, a GRAWR of at least 10K would be nice, Throws out all them class 3 and some class 4 trucks, putting you into a class 5 truck spec!
To the OP, just because you want to look at GM C4500/5500's.....The 4500s can be DOT class 4 or 5 rigs, with gvwr's from 14500 to upwards of 19500. The 5500 has gvwr's from 19500-26K lbs. The GM 6500 only goes from 19500 to 25500 lbs! imagine that.......yep......dang them badging from manufactures!
