1 ton dually or Medium Duty for large 5er?

You also have to consider that 99% of MDT's were built bare bones as utility vehicles. To make it tolerable for long distance driving you need to consider things like lack of air suspension, zero creature comforts,no cab sound deadening etcetera.
IMO you would be better off find a larger rig that was already set up for long distance driving.
