Lumping together is pretty typical. You might also find one of the smaller class6/7 trucks with a stronger motor than one that will JUST move the truck itself. Many like my MDT were only ment to move the gvwr of the truck. There was NO intention of it pulling a trailer of any shape or size per say. Hence why I have a 185/330 motor in the thing. Works great overall if kept under 55 mph, and about 20K lbs, go over those speeds, wts, things get REALLY anemic! Altho with a 10.08-1 first gear, 4.33 gears in the axels, I can pull a 30% grade at 30K lbs. Better than the 24% at 20K with my no gone dmax! with a 300/600 motor! So hp/torque specs themselves, are not the only thing to look at!

I'm confused. It sounds like you're saying your MDT was NOT intended to tow a trailer, but yet you are doing quite well towing a 30k trailer. Did I mis-read your post? I think I do get the gist of what you're saying though... If I look at MDTs I need to look at not just the GVWR but the CVWR of that truck. ???
