Absolutely wrong! You need to do more research. Not to say you couldn't spend that much if you wanted to...but that is sure not usual.
I paid $20K for my singled KW, with less than 700K on the odometer, spent another $7.5K to get it ready for my use. That's $10K less than I paid for my '05 3500 that I discovered was not able to adequately (subjective term) stop my 19K pound 5th wheel.
Chances are that you will never find a MDT for the $$$ which can buy a very serviceable HDT. The average MDT will not last as long as the average HDT, it will need to be rebuilt 3 times before the HDT does (300K miles vs 1M miles, again average)
Big trucks are not for everyone, but don't discount owning one for the error of thinking they are too expensive.

Thanks for this. You renewed my interest in searching for a HDT and I guess I wasn't searching correctly. I found a few for sale on rvnetwork.com in my price range, but other than that, I guess I'm struggling with the right search criteria and/or sites to find these things. Can someone help me with what exactly to call these things when I'm searching the net for listings?
Have a look over on the escapees forum HDT for sale ,already converted and sorted for RV use.
Also google "rv haulers" gregg shields does conversions as a side line and has a very informative video series on how to 'do it yourself'
www.truckpaper.com is another resource for commercial trucks prior to conversion.
I am saving up for a Kenworth.
