1 ton dually or Medium Duty for large 5er?
We're looking at large 5ers and these things are HEAVY. I know a 1 ton dually diesel will get them moving down the road and that's not what I'm worried about. I'm worried about getting the rig stopp...

Thanks all! So, if I buy one that hasn't been converted, what can I expect to spend for a nice deck and 5th wheel?
And how much for singling out? (I heard someone suggest you can get it done for free in exchange for them keeping the left over axle if you find the right shop. Is that doable?)
What about tires? How bad of a day are you going to have when it's time to buy new tires? I'm estimating $550/tire installed in my mind. Am I on the mark? And if they're that expensive... How long do these tires last? None of the manufacturers claim any mileage ratings beyond saying "long life" and other phrases that actually say nothing.
