Why not just order your truck? I've had my truck for almost 16 years now, and there's never a time when I get in it and think that I would have been better off with one off the lot. Never. I'm hoping to keep it for another ten years and maybe I'll order a new truck then. I was 21 when I bought it and I'll be 46 then, I figure that's about the right amount of time before a new truck is needed.

That is what I had to do when I could not find the dually I liked on dealers lots (and I viewed dealers in 1500 miles radius).
When waiting 2 months can be annoying, later on you will fully appreciate the truck build to your liking, not to meet dealer quota.
I saved money ordering mine big time.
Technology in last years is on fast lane and each new engine delivers more HP and more mpg than the older one.
When buying new engine if 1st year can bring some reliability concerns - that's what warranty is for and Ford is giving 5 years warranty on powertrain + you can always buy extension.
My 2017 6.7 l is build on about 5th year of the production, yet it developed oil pan leak in less than 30k miles.
So even "experienced" design still need people paying attention on assemble lane.
