The first part might be right, I don't know for sure. I suspect that it is calculating some performance parameter of the fuel by measuring the by-products of combustion......and that doesn't necessarily translate the the presence or absence of alcohol.
BUT....since your second part is dead wrong....the whole post is suspect. ALL the knock sensors can do is signal a reduction in timing for a SPARK KNOCK; that is, when the fuel burns too fast (explodes) after the spark hits.
It can do NOTHING to cure compression knock.....when the fuel ignites BEFORE the spark occurs.
