I wonder if this new 7.0 will be a big block hemi or a punched and stroked small block.
Doubt it'll be a BB. GM can produce a 7.0 smallblock (aftermarket LSX took it to 454ci), and now Ford is doing a 7.3.
The reason I'm asking is I doubt a 7.X small block will be as durable as a 7.X big block.
I haven't been able to tell in my digging, but it seems like this block is the same architecture.
If they make a truck version, it would be way detuned, and switched to an iron block. Just like the current truck 6.4. - wilber1ExplorerWouldn't surprise me that much if it was a different block. Displacement was reduced from 6.4 to 6.2 for the Hellcat and Demon in order to increase durability. That doesn't jibe with increasing displacement to make even more power unless there are major differences.
- Grit_dogNavigatorSweet engine! But if they release it in a car and call it the Hellaphant I might puke! Lol

$30,000 for that engine... Don't expect stellar sales!
FCA would have been better served by developing a big block gas engine for their HD trucks.
The limited production run of 100 was sold out in 2 days.
Plan for more next year but you now have to wait.

Lots of rumors out there about just that. A 7.0L (426 cu in) gas engine that will be going in the HD trucks. I think that's why the 5.7L Hemi is no longer available in the 2500/3500 trucks and it's 6.4L only - because the 7.0L Hemi will be the optional engine and the 6.4L will be the base.
I wonder if this new 7.0 will be a big block hemi or a punched and stroked small block.
