I pulled with a 2007 Tundra 4x4 Double Cab limited with tow package. My trailer weighs in at 9040 lbs (7800 brochure dry weight) and has probably climbed since the initial load out. Tongue weight was 1160. With WD system the truck front axle came in at 3260 and rear axle at 4060 so overall the truck was at 7320 with a GVWR of 7100. But that was with the truck bed empty and no passengers. The rear axle weight rating, regardless of payload capacity, on my 2007 tundra was 4150.
I now run a 2010 GMC 2500HD with over 3,000 lbs payload. I loved the Tundra. If it wasn't for the desire/need to haul stuff in the bed I would probably still have it and it would have been paid off by now. Then again, I wouldn't have been able to do some of the boondocking trips where generators, fuel, water tanks, tote tanks, tools and a 400 lb battery bank make it better for us.
