Bottom line is there is a LOT of power to be had, it's the old hot rodders question: how fast do you want to go, how much do you want to spend? Making the power is the easy part, setting up the truck to handle it is expensive. But it CAN be done.
You hit the nail on the head right there. These diesel engines themselves can easily and reliably handle huge power increases. The harder part is getting things like the transmission to handle such power. I hear many people complain about how much money I spend on my vehicles yet go out and spend the same amount of money on something I thought was stupid. Some people will spend $2k to beef up the driveline to make the truck they plan on driving for the next 5-10 years a little more enjoyable while others may choose to spend $2k in one trip to Vegas. Then there are those that are fortunate enough to spend $4k on both or those not fortunate enough to do either. To each their own and how one wishes to spend the money they earned is their own business.
