When you make power you have to be able to cool it with more air thru the engine, and that is why I never tapped my Edge Comp into my VP-44. With the stock HY35 turbo I had the drive the pyro, not so much with the PDR35-W12, which was a modified HX35-W12. 325/650-700 towed great. Chris
Why would you run an Edge Comp untapped? It does nothing but fixed timing advance and can only bump canbus fueling the same 12% the cheapest Edge EZ of any other untapped tuner can.Cummins12V98 wrote:
As far as I have ever heard my Son had the fastest and produced the most HP with a stock turbo on a 2nd gen 24V.
His 98 4x4 reg cab hit 103 at Spokane Raceway at 12.78. He put down 420hp at a Dyno Day in Abbotsford, BC.
Truck was lowered had detroit locker built trans "stock turbo" Industrial Dragon injectors and Edge Race box.
420 HP is easy on a 24V with stock HX35 turbo although it won't stay cool long enough to tow with. The tuner you're talking about is the Edge Comp, and it's very outdated and hasn't had any further development in a very long time. The Quadzilla Adrenaline is a whole different world with modern software and it allows FULL custom tuning of your fueling curve, timing at various different RPM and boost levels, etc.
One of those and a set of 7x012 injectors will make 420 no problem. Head studs are a good idea at that point and various other supporting durability mods, but actually making that much HP isn't tough at all.
Asking for what specific tune someone tows a 5th wheel with is too vague a question, you can't answer that unless you mean with what specific truck and what model year.
Bottom line is there is a LOT of power to be had, it's the old hot rodders question: how fast do you want to go, how much do you want to spend? Making the power is the easy part, setting up the truck to handle it is expensive. But it CAN be done.
