Yep. We have two Electric vehicles. We routinely use 14-50 or TT30 receptacles for charging the cars. The 240 volt 14-50 is literally 6 times as fast as the TT30 as the EVSE detects 120 volts on the TT30 and automatically switches to 12 amp max. On the 14-50 it detects 240 and allows 27 amps. We gave both a 14-50 and TT30 on our property.

Going by this chart from NO-SHOCK-ZONE you can see what the measurements should be around your 50A connector using a multimeter...

Using a RV50A (M) to RV30A(F) adapter cord will look like this...

Note that only one leg of the HOT1 or HOT2 is used... This will not feed 220VAC to the 30A Trailer. IT will however feed 120VAC at 50AMPS to your 30A Power Distribution Panel but you will be protected by a 30A Breaker if you draw more than 30A's from your appliances...

I have no idea how this would affect any surge protection devices you may have hooked up protecting your 30A Power Distribution Panel...

I guess this all makes sense to you... I would contact a RV Wiring EXPERT if you are unsure about anything... I am NOT an expert in this area... Just reading all of this from the NOSHOCKZONE on the internet...

This will be no different than using the RV50A(M) to 30A(F) adapter Cord connected to the campground pedestals... I do this all the time as when I look at the contacts on the 50A connector they all look like new as compared to the 30A connecters that have black burn marks everywhere haha...

Very common and standard adapter is available at any RV store, amazon and plenty of others.
Thousands are in use right now. The adapter will supply 120 volts to your 30 amp RV just fine.

That outlet has two hits, a neutral and a ground. There is 120 volts between each hot and ground, and 240 volts between the hots. The adapter will use one leg of that circuit, for 120 vac. Yes, it will be fine.
