It was have it repaired or buy back. Consumers choice. Ford never gave the 6.0 or 6.4 owners any choice but to shove it! Most that I read about used the opportunity to purchase a new RAM. Very few ever go from a RAM to a Ford or GM.
The 6.0 or 6.4 never created safety issues for people on the road. In addition my BIL's 09 6.7 cummins ram that had nothing but problems with CEL's due to soot clogging EGR cooler, EGR valve, and soot clogging the turbo was nothing but problems to the point the dealer didn't know what to do anymore. FCA essentially told him to shove it. He sold that truck after 9 months of getting the run around... Kind of like ram has been doing to its customers including not acting on safety issues or having the revised parts to fix their trucks, but would rather you or others on the road be victoms. It got so bad that the government had to jump in and slap FCA with the largest fine in the history of the automotive world and force FCA to fix or buy back the trucks.
In addition it's obvious you don't spend any time in the FTE (2017 Super Duty) forum. There's quite of few ex ram owners who purchased new Super Duty's and are reporting how much they love their new trucks. Some are first time Ford owners and some are previous Ford owners and after owning a ram couldn't be happier to be back into a Ford product.
Here's a link on some information on the topic since some have selective memory.
