'14 Ram 3500

Looking around for a 3500. Found a '14 with low miles, but it seems to be a buy back truck from California. Steering issues, dealer could not replicate the problem. What changed from '14 to '15 frame/steering wise if anything?
  • Being a buy back makes it a deal breaker. Why get involved?. There are too many other trucks on the planet to risk it with buying one with a known defect and questionable history.
We do research, discover a questionable past and but it anyway:h

RAM bought back a lot of trucks in the last years. Most had small fixable issues, but the owners used this opportunity to upgrade to a newer truck.

This 2014 might have been bought back while they were waiting for a fix for this.

  • You see a lot of posts on different forums making statements around the bugs in the ram 3500 were worked out in '15. just wondering what these are referring to.

  • I would not buy that truck unless they found and corrected the problem. You are looking at having an enormous headache on your hands.
  • If they couldn't replicate the problem then they couldn't see what the problem was. In my experiences with FCA, there is no problem if they can't see it. Even if they can hear or feel it but can't find the source they will call it "normal". Highly doubt they would buy back a truck that didn't at least replicate the problem. There has to be more to it.
  • 14 had a recall for the track bar mount on the frame rail.
  • Nothing major changed from MY13 to MY14 with the Ram 3500s. Basically the same truck. Big change for the 1-tons was from MY12 (old) to MY13 (current) when they went with the brand new frame and higher weight ratings.
