1500 and hitch or holdout for 2500

A buddy of mine just traded in a 2015 2500HD Black in color with a 6.0 LT with leather, 40/20 split front seat, 9K miles to Tad Jenkins Chevy in Rigby, Idaho. He bought the same truck with a Duramax. You might get a great deal on that truck if it is what your looking for.

We are 90 miles from Yellowstone park and the Grand Teton NP, you can make trip out of it.

Can you factory order a 2500? That way you can option it out as you wish, pick your color and you get what you want. That's what I did for both of my trucks.
Having moved up from a half-ton to a one-ton, the difference is night and day. I've towed our old trailer with both trucks and there's no comparison, even now as we've significantly upgraded our 5'er size and weight. It almost seems and this is definitely true to an extent, that 3/4 and 1 tons are built to tow and haul no matter the drivetrain. They're built to be stable while doing so.

I have a 27' with a listed 800 pound tongue weight (dry), so it's possible.

Common...thinking that it is all about 'go'...

IMHO, it really is about the whole package with highest weighting towards
the ability to "manhandle" the setup...not just during the good days when even
a riding lawnmower 'can do it' (remember that a half ton 'can' tow the Space
Shuttle), but that day/those days when Mr Murphy crosses your path

Either you have it spot on, or not...

No time to go back to the store for bigger/better/etc...nor time to re-setup
the system

Braking/stopping or slowing down is another that so many do NOT really
consider...
